It is an understatement to suggest that we live in a world where information flows and the rate of scientific and technological advances exceed our capacity to absorb them. Our society and democracy are enriched when we come together to better understand the changes occurring and can develop informed positions on issues which will impact on our lives and those of our children.
From July 9 - 11, 1999, Adelaide will play host to a gathering of public intellectual from Australia and around the world. These highly respected and accomplished individuals are coming together to explore the impacts and intersecting points of new ideas, developments and thinking across a broad range of human endeavours. Join us for a stimulating series of individual presentations, conversations and panel discussions which will be programmed in a range of venues located along North Terrace, Adelaide's premier cultural boulevard. Daytime sessions will be free to the public, with modest charges for evening keynote addresses. Details about some individual guests are included here. A full program will be available for purchase in May. Greg Mackie, Chair |
