The Adelaide-based Australian String Quartet has an enviable international profile and reputation. Renowned for the refinement of its approach and the intellectual depth of its interpretations, the ensemble brings a particular insight to this fine programme of quartets by these two great composers.
This whimsical programme is an exploration of contrasts. The G major sonata, a piece which brings out the gentleness so characteristic of Brahms, leaps to life in the hands of Barbara Jane Gilby, concert master of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Ian Munro, one of Australia`s finest pianists.WHEN
