In 1939, when she was still a teenager, Emma Ciccotosto migrated to Australia from Italy. Now her granddaughter is getting married and Emma is preparing the wedding feast. In this life-affirming play she relives her memories of Australia and Italy while cooking up home-style pasta, mixing recipes and family disasters into a concoction containing the joys, triumphs and disasters of life for Italian-Australians.
Emma's story is supported by the rich earthy voices of the Brisbane-based Abruzzi Women's Choir, whose authentic provincial songs counter-point the authenticity of this delightful piece of theatre.
