Environmentally
Sound
Not all music is created by human beings - the sounds of nature
are also part of our musical experience. But it is at dawn that
the natural symphony comes fully alive, and Environmentally
Sound offers three ways to experience this music. At Manly
there is a Mangrove Walk, at Mt Coot-tha a stroll through the
bush around Slaughter Falls, and in the Boondall Wetlands a different
kind of experience again. Walk through the sounds of nature with
an ornithologist and discover how human music has been influenced
by the sound of wind, sea, birds and insects.
Composer Sarah Hopkins, will perform a specially commissioned
piece for cello, voice and the hauntingly beautiful whirly instruments at
Manly and Boondall. Lewis & Young add their magical sound
combination of the didjeridu and saxophone at Mt Coot-tha.
All walks will be followed by a delicious breakfast.
