TASMANIA FESTIVAL

TEN DAYS ON THE ISLAND

“You take Manhattan.….I’ll take Tasmania” Sian Prior, The Age, April 9, 2001

Ten Days on the Island is a unique cultural festival in a unique place in the world. Known as Australia\'s Island State, Tasmania is actually an archipelago of more than three hundred islands, a land of ancient and dramatic histories containing vast tracts of pristine wilderness and World Heritage locations.

Ten Days on the Island has presented artists from more than 20 countries from islands far away and remote including Cuba, Madagascar, Sicily, Papua New Guinea, Manhattan, Venice and Staten Island, to the big island continent of Australia.

The program includes some 200 ticketed and free performances including dance, theatre, music, opera, film, literature, exhibitions and installations, inspiring discussions, gastronomic feasts and much more.

Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to explore the great natural beauties of the island while making their way to the next performance or exhibition. The outstanding local food, wine, natural wilderness and heritage are all part and parcel of this adventure.
