ARTS MADD gives the opportunity to see some of the most outstanding theatre, music and dance being created in our schools in a range of premiere productions.

Medusa 3000

Banksia Park High School

Based on the Medusa myth, the plot deals with students who become entangled in a virtual reality game. The evil cybernetic "Medusa 3000" is opposed by the wise old hermit as she overtakes each now level. For those interested in writing and drawing Comic Books, a workshop will be offered in conjunction with the daytime performances.

Charles Campbell Secondary School



A visually exciting, high energy dance/drama program. DANCE MADD presents three action-packed sections, focusing on themes relevant to kids of today.
1. GROWING PAINS...a light-hearted look at some of the pressures on a young individual.
2. IDEAS & IMAGERY...Contemporary dance to contemporary music - enjoy!
3. REVIVAL...A quick trip through the ages! Revisit and enjoy the music and dance styles from 40's tap through50's Rock ‘n’ Roll, 70's Disco to the 90's and meet the characters who brought them to life.

Spectrum explores the colours of the spectrum, through a vibrant and visual display.

CHORAL CHEMISTRY


Brighton Secondary School


Choral Chemistry brings alive some exciting and uplifting choral music from the Renaissance to now. Music from Europe , America, Africa and Australia. Accompanied by a variety of instrumental combinations and the a capella style. The Brighton Concert Choir is well known throughout Australia as one of the finest school choirs.

KING LEAR


Scotch College Theatre Company


‘King Lear’ is an outdoor extravaganza. While loyal to Shakespeare it is intentionally accessible to school students. Set in Medieval times, King Lear features early music, a massed chorus, combat in a rustic setting, timber mud, live animals and fire under the stars.

THIEF


St Michael’s College



Thief connects directly to youth today, about the forces that steel that youth. A potent statement about the hopes and desires of youth, the history and trends of youth culture, its protests and concerns.
Thief combines contemporary dance, live music, photography, graphics, songs as poetry
Thief is a look at youth by youth from street research , contemporary music, Dickens, the classroom, graffiti, heaps of interviews and a look at what your oldies were protesting about.

The Scots College (NSW)



In this new work by Richard Tulloch, a group of outstanding young athletes are put through a series of physical and mental tests at a sports camp. Those who succeed will be offered a crack at the Olympic selection, but the weird assignments are set by the camp’s eccentric head coach are not at all what they expect... The stakes are high, competition is fierce.

MUSIC Wizards of Oz

Pembroke School and Wilderness School<

Australia’s Jazz legend DON BURROWS in concert with the Pembroke Band and the Combined South Australian Primary Schools Band & Choir. Also renowned pianist/composer JUDY BAILEY performs the world premiere of her work "Out of the Wilderness" with the Wilderness School Studio Orchestra. This commissioned work blends influences from Rock, Jazz and the Classics and explores the experience of growing up in contemporary Australia. A gala concert of gigantic proportions featuring two legends of Australian music all on one program.
