MARANG (CANADA/AFRICA)
Marang's thrilling performances are characterised by extraordinary joy and vitality. Using acrobatics, contortion, stilts, masquerade, mime and a myriad of African instruments, the show features songs, dances and costumes from West Africa. Starring Alhaji Papa Susso, who hails from a long line of Griots, traditional oral historians, the show portrays the ascent of the Mali Empire, the largest black empire in African history, through the eyes of the hereditary Jalis-musicians, praise singers and historians.
"marang thrilled concert goers...they had the audience clapping, singing and dancing in the aisles"
